Biological Treatment SystemsThe bioreactor comes in one or two stages depending on required treatment efficiency. Plants with higher treatment efficiency requirement than 85 %, need a two-stage-system. The Bioreactor degrades the dissolved organic matter by oxidation into carbon dioxide, which escapes to the air, and into a biomass that acts as activated sludge. The suspended, cross flow Biomedia provides a large biofilm surface area for the bacteria and is simultaneously accumulating the active biosludge inside the primary settlement zone.
